Types of Trees

Each of the trees planted will make a huge difference to the farmers livelihood. They will farm the fruit, flowers and leaves and these can be used for food or medicine.

Caliandra

Caliandra is a small tropical legume tree valued for its multipurpose attributes.

Neem tree

Neem is a highly popular multipurpose tree that provides food and insecticide, and has a great number of ethnomedicinal properties.

Prunus Africana

Prunus africana, or the African Cherry, is an evergreen tree with a spherical crown; usually growing 10-24m tall with some specimens reaching 36m.

Eucalyptus/Kalitunsi

Eucalyptus Grandis attains a height of 45-55m, usually with an excellent trunk and a wide-spreading, rather thin crown.

Mahogany

Mahogany is deciduous, shedding their leaves during the dry season. They produce flowers and fruits twice each year.

Albizia/Mugavu

Albizzia is in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's fastest growing tree. Albizzia is a large tree that can grow up to 40m tall with the first branch at a height of up to 20m.
